MERCHANDISE ASSISTANT

Looking for entry level Merchandise Assistant to help with data entry, sample coordinating and reporting. MUST have stellar Excel skills. 


Salary/Hourly Rate: $13-15/hr

Position Overview: 
The Merchandise Assistant will provide support to the Merchandising Team in assortment selection, order processing, and monitoring department/division needs to achieve sales and gross margin goals. This position will be responsible for helping the Merchandiser translate the merchandise assortment strategy through site maintenance of sequencing product, selecting faced out colors, and building online links and shops to help increase site conversion.


Responsibilities of the Merchandise Assistant:

 

  • Assist the Merchant with executing all strategies including product strategies, promotions, markdowns, email recommendations, and HP & DP initiatives to ultimately hit sales and margin targets
  • Build and execute weekly selling reports as well as present best/worst sellers to planning and merchandising leads
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with broader cross-functional teams including Planning, Design, Sourcing, E-Commerce Operations, Creative, and Studio to achieve seamless product-to-market process
  • Attend all design meetings and assist Merchant in e-commerce exclusive assortment selection
  • Perform site maintenance and merchandising including product sequencing, link, and shop creation to help drive increased conversion
  • Perform data entry and updating of purchase orders, detail sheets, and on order as needed
  • Conduct sample management including the organization, management, and discarding/archiving of samples on a seasonal basis
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative duties within the department such as assistance with presentations

 

Qualifications for the Merchandise Assistant: 

 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and adjust to shifting priorities in a fast paced environment with commitment to follow through on all tasks/projects independently
  • Ability to think strategically with strong analytical skills
  • Understanding of retail math concepts
  • Commitment to learning and continuous proactive development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

 

Education Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising, business, or related field preferred
  • 0-3 years of experience in top retail environment with understanding of merchandise buying; experience would be full-time or through internships
