Merchandise Assistant

Summary:

This position plays a vital role in assisting the merchandising team and keeping the cross-functional team of inventory, creative and product management clicking along with clear and accurate tracking and communication.

Job Description:

  • Assist the merchant in future season and in season planning of product assortments
  • Maintain integrity of internal spreadsheets related to assortment planning, vendor communication and item data.
  • Assist with assortment communication to all cross functional partners. Communicate changes and updates through both email and internal tracking spreadsheets.
  • Provide category financial performance on a weekly basis
  • Act as communications liaison between cross functional teams such as web merchandising, retail merchandising, creative, product development and inventory partners.
  • Attend weekly/monthly cross functional meetings, vendor meetings. 
  • Ability to do competitive research and present findings to manager
  • Communicate and execute end of season and in-season pricing strategies – including seasonal markdowns and promotions.
  • Proofread catalog pages during catalog production for content accuracy and manage important deadlines throughout the catalog planning calendar 

Qualifications:

  • AA or BS/BA preferred
  • Two years of experience in a similar position
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Comfort learning new systems/tools including proprietary systems
  • Retail experience preferred
  • Team player who encourages cooperation
  • Attentive to detail at an elevated level
  • Problem-solver who takes pride in finding solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
