Merchandise Assistant - Entry Level

The Merchandise Assistant is responsible for compiling, processing, disseminating and maintaining merchandise information, supporting activities which drive sales, and providing other clerical support to Buyers and Assistant Buyers within the Buying area.

  • Set up styles write orders for buying office and maintain items in database, including special orders
  • Communicate with vendors to manage purchase orders (PO’s): create new POs, track orders (shipping and receipts)
  • Process Return To Vendors (RTV’s), update/change PO's as needed using APX and SPO systems
  • Track and communicate directly with vendors.
  • Maintain and organize vendor samples
  • Enter promotional price changes into PMF program in order to alter pricing for stores and eCommerce
  • Pull business results of circulars, product tests, and special events
  • Generate reports using EDW and gather data in order to support marketing workflow, pricing/signing, style selling strategies & objectives, advertising and inventory levels
  • Perform various advertising functions including soft proofing and hard proofing ads utilizing Marketing Workflow and Workhorse: enter in copy information, for adds, perform image requests,and fill out styles for sample turn-in process
  • Enter co-op contracts into BMS program in order to track co-op advertising financials
  • Supports eComm teams as necessary which may include acquiring samples, developing item descriptions, and providing additional information, and verifying product samples on website
  • Perform administrative/clerical duties including copying, faxing, and filing for the Buyer and Assistant Buyer
  • Provide coaching and training on systems and office procedures to fellow MAs, Retail Development Program (RDP) participants, and Assistant Buyers
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Bachelors degree
  • Specific work or project experience: Demonstrated basic-level Microsoft Excel proficiency
