About the Position

The Allocation Manager, in support of organizational objectives,
sets the workload and pace for the team providing necessary
framework and deadlines for workload management; acts as a
functional expert who identifies issues and root causes and can
lead and guide the team to achieve desired results whether
tactical or strategic development. The Allocation Manager has a
strong presence and is a leader among the team, cross functional
teams, and across Brands.


• Lead and implement best practices &/or refine processes for Key
Item management, in stocks and fashion buy validation

• Partner with Merchants and Merchant Planning to vaildate buys
preseason and any resolve issues

• Help the team analyze quarterly department size hindsight and
recommend sizing for stores and .com businesses

• Manage in season allocation strategies with the team to ensure
financial objectives are met

• Lead the transition to a new Distribution Center (DC) and a 2 DC
model by understanding the model, developing training and best
practices, and partnering with the Allocation Managers from the
other Brands.

• Proven track record in managing a business and team to achieve
financial targets and people goals

• Ability to identify, recommend and coordinate innovative
strategies which ensure competitive success

• Interact with and formally present key strategies and action
plans to all levels of management

• Learn and become proficient in the Allocation system (MID) with
the ability to teach/coach team and help Allocate as needed

• Demonstrate strong project management skills with the ability to
work both independently and in teams

• Partner with direct reports and cross functional teams (ie
Merchant Planning, Merchants, Store Planning, Sourcing)

• Ensure functional financial success through leading inventory,
store and size management by working towards meeting or
exceeding sales and gross margin goals

• Manage/support career development process of teams to ensure job
satisfaction, talent retention and development

• Provide timely direction and feedback to direct reports to
foster skill development and performance improvement; provide
supervisor with timely feedback on personal development and
training needs

• Advanced analytical skills

• Ability to lead and manage teams of people

• Logical analysis and problem solving skills; flexible, adaptive
and able to lead through to change

• Microsoft Excel expert who is able to quickly learn new tools
and applications quickly

• Experience with allocation and reporting systems, preferably SAP

• 1-2 years supervisor experience

• 2-3 years experience as Planner or equivalent

• 3-5 years of diverse retail management, buying, planning,
allocating or related experience desired

• College degree or equivalent experience
