Licensing Manager

As a Licensing Manager, you will support the VP of Licensing and help to manage FGX's global portfolio of 30 to 40 licensed brands including Nine West, Dockers, Reebok, Revlon, Disney, Star Wars, Hello Kitty and many others. The Manager handles much of the day-to-day communication with many of the licensors and participates in developing strategies to maximize global and regional business opportunities with the brands in the portfolio.

POSITION OF THE JOB IN THE ORGANIZATION

Department:  Marketing

Reporting to: VP of Licensing

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to the development of licensed brand strategies within the FGX global brand portfolio.
  • Assists the VP in negotiating both new and renewal agreements with licensors to maximize revenue opportunities and secure favorable commercial terms.
  • Supports periodic license review meetings with senior leadership team.
  • Collaborates with relevant departments to develop annual budgets, periodic forecast updates, and brand marketing plans.
  • Reviews periodic sales/royalty reporting by licensed brand to determine how actual results and projected trends align with expectations.
  • Supports the VP to make sure the contract process is being implemented, from Deal Memo to fully executed agreements, working closely with Marketing, Legal, Finance.
  • Maintains ongoing dialogue and relationships with many of the 30 to 40 licensors.
  • Gathers info from licensors to support the development of brand selling propositions for the relevant Sales teams.
  • Researches potential new brands to help determine appropriateness and fit within the existing FGX brand portfolio.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1-4 years in licensing, ideally from the licensee perspective, strongly preferred.
  • Business/marketing/forecasting and retail merchandising background.
  • Strong Excel skills to develop and track brand forecasts and summary reports.

PROFICIENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to comfortably interact with senior level executives and brand owners/managers.
  • Ability to create strong and compelling presentations.
  • Persuasive verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Excel skills to develop and track brand forecasts and summary reports.
  • Demonstrable brand marketing and financial skills.
  • Proven understanding of wholesale/manufacturing business structure.
  • Solid understanding of Retail business/margins/brand strategies.
  • Competent researcher
  • Willingness to travel - 10% to 20%
