INDUSTRIAL DESIGN - Accessories & Apparel

Under direction of the Director of Industrial Design, the Industrial Designer is responsible for the entire product design process within assigned Product Development categories. This individual is also responsible for researching global markets in order to identify new trends to keep our product lines current and lead innovation. The designer will develop product concepts, conduct product validation, design aesthetic options, generate 3D data, review product, presentation materials, compile product tech packs, and follow through with strategic sourcing. The position will require close collaboration with cross-functional teams in various categories of business to maintain strategic alignment. Reports will be generated for on work in progress (WIP) relative to the timing and action calendar. They will work with the Director to insure cohesive project management, design direction, and presentation strategies to maximize product adoption. The designer will manage both internal design and external design sources. As a lead on the team, they will also provide training and mentoring of Associate/Assistant Designers. 

Job Description:

Manages, tracks, and executes the design process for a given group of products within defined brands from the trend research to product manufacturing with an emphasis on building strong balanced assortments.

Work with product management to ensure designs are aligned with the business strategy and company goals.

Maintains integrity of brands by delivering appropriate point-of-difference merchandise through collaboration with design peers, brand management, graphic design, project managers, merchants and vendors in line with the brand profile.

Introduce innovation to key design programs/styles to keep the brands fresh, relevant in the marketplace, and uniquely exclusive in our assortment. This will be done by market/consumer research and various tools to generate concept ideas.

Create and deliver effective, cohesive product presentations to “sell” concepts direction to merchants, ensuring consistent formats across brands and categories.


Leads aesthetics development including form, color, material selection, branding, and application of graphics while considering functional requirements and retail goals.

Functionality executes product by communicating the concept’s final design direction in a technical format, appropriate to the manufacturing process. These revisions will be communicated to both internal and external vendors through our PLM system.

Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree- Industrial Design
  • 10+ years experience in industrial design
  • 5+ years OEM experience
  • Ability to lead team members and drive process
  • Domestic and international sourcing
  • Previous external vendor collaboration
