IMPORT COORDINATOR

Salary/Rate: $45K - $55K

 

Our client is a New York based, children's licensed apparel company in search of a talented Import Coordinator with experience working with women's and children's apparel. 

 

Position Overview: The Import Coordinator will do a number of activities in relation to incoming freight, LC's, and payments. The ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, while being a team player will make for the most successful candidate. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

Incoming Freight

 

  • The Import Coordinator meets with freight forwarders to negotiate ocean freight rates
  • Ensures that all products have the proper HTS numbers assigned
  • Reviews all bookings request with production department for approval
  • Follows up with freight forwarders on stuffing reports, ISF forms, arrival notices, and freight releases
  • Updates and maintains shipping date for all PO’s in ERP system
  • Works with custom broker on shipment entries, releases, and any customs related issues
  • The Import Coordinator works with truckers on all issues pertaining to containers availability
  • Follows up with truckers on all delivery orders and appointments to warehouses
  • Follows up with warehouses on all receiving reports for containers, returns, and transfers
  • Updates and maintains carton measurements and weight for all import shipments

 

LC’s and Payments

 

  • The Import Coordinator creates and maintains vendor’s information in the trading partner system
  • Opens and amends LC’s
  • Requests and reviews copies of shipping documents from factories overseas
  • Follows up with banks on document notices and payments to vendors
  • Reviews and maintains open payment report for vendors
  • The Import Coordinator prepares wire transfer requests
  • Keeps record of all production related deductions
  • Creates charge-backs to vendors overseas for import discrepancies
  • Reviews, approves, and logs in all services related invoices (custom broker, freight forwarders, warehouses, and truckers)
  • Works with accounting department on customers return and adjustments in inventory

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and Mac computers 
  • Knowledge of CAD preferable

 

Education Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
