Functional Project Manager, Merchandising Technology: Become the
Newest Member of the Vans Family

innovator with new and progressive ideas that will transform the
action sports industry. As the Project Manager, you will be an
extension of The North Face (TNF) and Vans brands, representing
their business and consumers while partnering with the VF Global
Business Technology team to drive successful implementation of
JustEnough’s Merchandising Technology solutions. You will partner
closely with stakeholders to implement business capabilities and
technologies that will enable the growth of our Direct to Consumer
business. You will be the brands’ ongoing liaison with GBT for all
Merchandising Technology concerns.


How You Will Make a Difference:

Represent and advocate for Vans and TNF Direct-to-Consumer (DTC)
organizations including Merchandising, Planning, Allocation,
eCommerce and Supply Chain, in our ongoing Merchandising Technology
initiatives. Be watchful for any instances where decisions made
centrally could have unintended consequences for the brands.
Quickly learn the brands, business models, existing technology and
markets. Understand brand business objectives, goals and priorities
as they relate to our DTC strategy. Represent brands in all program
activities; actively seek deeper business involvement when
appropriate. Support project momentum while minimizing business
interruption. Advocate for the brands and their unique business
models while collaborating with the GBT team and vendor on design
and implementation. The primary objective is to make sure our brand
teams have the best tools to service our internal and external
customers. Leverage industry leading practices wherever possible;
look for commonalities across both brands and facilitate agreement
on those commonalities. Assist in development and execution of a
change management plan including organizational changes, job task
modifications, KPI definition and end-to-end communication. Under
the direction of each brand’s leadership, collect and document
future state business requirements and identify key areas of
change. Develop UAT approach, document test scenarios and scripts,
coordinate and ensure appropriate representation and participation
across all environments. Develop and deliver training. Manage
communication between stakeholders (Merchandising, Planning,
Allocation, eCommerce, Supply Chain, GBT, cross brands, etc.),
communicate project status, raise issues as needed, organize
meetings, align calendars, manage meeting spaces, etc. Support
project momentum and general awareness. Document department
reporting needs, coordinate with other business initiative leaders.
Determine future resource needs to facilitate timely execution of
work stream initiatives. Participate in sprint planning
prioritization for additional capabilities and enhancements.
Consistent with agreed upon brand strategy, represent DTC business
in all platform maintenance and optimization discussions and
prioritization efforts.


Skills for Success:

- Years of Related Professional Experience: 6+


Educational/ Position Requirements:

- At least 6 years' broad business experience, preferably in the
implementation of global business project initiatives, with at
least 4 years’ experience in Project Management

- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology or similar,
Master’s degree preferred

- Proven ability to develop trust-based relationships with local
and remote key leaders and team members

- Experience working in the Retail Merchandising industry,
especially in retail systems implementation


Skills:

- Ability to identify dependencies between new and existing
technology and business processes

- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to take a new
perspective on using existing solutions

- Adept at identifying high-impact issues and risks to escalate
for executive review

- Proven track record working with Project & Change Management
theory and methodologies in regional & global project delivery
(preferably in a retail organization).

- Consulting background is a preferred. Internal
consultant/project manager experience also applies.

- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including
highly refined public speaking skills to manage challenging
public situations effectively. Experience in presenting to and
influencing senior leadership.

- Experience in large group facilitation of workshops and
working sessions

- Experience and ability to work independently as a member of a
virtual or geographically dispersed team.

- Ability to lead and influence others who do not directly
report to the PM

- Proficiency with project-based tools such as Word, Excel,
Project and PowerPoint as well as others (ex. Jira, wikis,
defect trackers)

- PMP Project Management certification or successful completion
of a recognized project management curriculum is preferred


Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

- Travel by air and overnight, as required 25-50% amount of time

- Lifting and/or bending 20 lbs
