FREELANCE MERCHANDISE ASSISTANT - $14-17/hr DOE - NYC

Salary: $14-$17/hr (DOE)
Position Overview: The Freelance Merchandise Assistant will support the chief merchant and the merchandising team in creating the seasonal assortments from concept to delivery. The Freelance Merchandise Assistant is responsible for ensuring the timely execution of each stage of the process.
Responsibilities:
- Freelance Merchandise Assistant is responsible for owning season assortment planning, line development, and merchandise selection
- Enters PO’s and manages the replenishment systems
- Analyzes sales and customer trends and makes adjustments to maximize the business
- Edits and ranks assortment
- Freelance Merchandise Assistant builds merchandise boards
- Runs selling reports and analyzes to identify best and slow sellers; reviews with team to determine how information should be interpreted and reacted to
- Ensures all information and samples are set up and organized for easy access by all team members
- Executes seasonal purchase order creation
- Identifies merchandising opportunities by reviewing recaps and analyzing last year’s business and current trends.
- Freelance Merchandise Assistant drives and manages the seasonal set up of merchandising tools
Qualifications:
- Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to interface with a diverse group
- Minimum 1 year experience or internship
- Advanced Excel Skills (Pivot Tables & V-Lookup)
- Ability to take direction and perform problem solving tasks as needed
- Strong initiative, ownership, and accountability for business
- Ability to react quickly with a strong sense of urgency
- Ability to multi task in the environment
- Previous experience with e-commerce and brick and mortar retail preferred
- Proficient in systems: PLM, Blue Cherry, AS400, or SAP is a plus
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required
