FREELANCE ASSISTANT TECHNICAL DESIGNER
Our client, one of the world’s leading fashion companies is seeking a talented Freelance Assistant Technical Designer to join their established Men’s and Women’s Technical Design team. Founded on excellence the Company now offers a wide range of high quality products manufactured with the greatest attention to detail.
Salary: $16-$20 hourly – DOE
Position Overview: The Freelance Assistant Technical Designer provides support to the Technical Design team for both Men’s & Women’s. Assisting in the creation and execution of a line, in addition to working cross functionally with the Design Team. The Freelance Assistant Technical Designer will provide and maintain the organization of the fashion design office, research upcoming trends, as well as acting as the internal liaison for the team.
The Technical Design Assistant Responsibilities:
- Assist Technical Designer to complete Technical Packages for all divisions, including Men’s and Women’s
- Communicate with interfacing teams as well as vendor directly and global production offices regarding fit and construction of fit samples
- Schedule fit sessions for prototype/stock fit samples according to set standards
- Experience working in all categories including Cut and Sew Knits, Sweaters and Wovens
- Measure and review sample to ensure construction and styling has been followed as instructed
- Assist Technical Designer to update Technical Packages with fit comments/photos/technical illustrations and explain changes to vendor/overseas offices
- Track proto/stock fit samples and work closely with production team and stay within given T&A calendar dates
- Organize pre-fits with design and measure samples as needed for reference
- Create charts of Core fits for meetings and fit reviews
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- The Freelance Assistant Technical Designer is required to have 1-3 years’ experience, internships are accepted
- Advanced contemporary product knowledge is preferred
- Basic Illustrator skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent design and sketching skills
- Strong fashion and creative senses; keen trend awareness
- MUST hold US citizenship, sponsorship is not offered
Education: The Freelance Assistant Technical Designer must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Design
