Footwear Developer: Become the Newest Member of the Vans Family

Vans is a leading action sports footwear company that has an
extensive history of manufacturing excellence. We carry a sense

attitude that comes from expressing your true self. As Footwear
Developer, you are in charge of managing footwear projects from
establishment of the tech package to final confirmation. The
projects you are overseeing are inclusive of in-line, Rider
samples, sales samples and product confirmation samples-category
respective. In this position, you are responsible for the timely
confirmation of projects in the Developers respective category
and support the commercialization/production effort. Here at

How You Will Move the Needle:

• Collaborate with design, merchandising and Asia development to
deliver product objectives and meet calendar timelines.

• Effectively evaluate materials for cost, physical
characteristics and function in order to specify appropriate
materials for development projects and ensure cost-

• Maintain target go-in margins while working proactively to
achieve them.

• Work effectively with fit and wear testing to ensure the
integrity of the design is maintained while high levels of
quality and performance are achieved.

• Furnish footwear coordinator with accurate, timely project
information in support of the footwear development line list.

• Clear and written verbal communication regarding product,
allowing VFEL staff to execute accordingly.

Skills for Success:

Years of Related Professional Experience: 5-10
Educational/ Position Requirements:
Minimum 5-10 years experience of athletic footwear development
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or engineering


• Strong computer skills

• Cross-cultural communication skills

• Embraces skateboarding lifestyle and culture

• Follows through with all tasks, assignments and job duties in
a timely manner

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

• International and domestic travel required (30%)

• Willing and able to work additional hours when needed

• Bend, lift, open and move product and related office items
varying in weight from 1 to 50lbs, depending on need (sample
hand carries, trade shows/ sales meeting set up)
