FIXED ASSETS ACCOUNTANT

The Fixed Assets Accountant will partner closely with various business units within PacSun such as, IT, Purchasing Team, Accounts Payable and Facilities to review, analyze, and implement standards that directly impact capital assets/fixed assets accounting.

This individual will need to be organized and strategic in order to handle multiple responsibilities at once. A successful communicator will allow this individual to develop strong partnership and to work effectively across multiple business units within PacSun.

Accountable for recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets (both tangible and intangible), tracking existing fixed assets, close sub-ledger depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets.

  • Maintain fixed asset sub-ledger (Asset Management) and general ledger (Lawson) to ensure all assets are accounted for in accordance with GAAP
  • Run fixed asset depreciation and post the general ledger
  • Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed
  • Review and place assets under construction (CIP)
  • Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger
  • Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system
  • Prepare the roll-forward
  • Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets
  • Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management
  • Recommend to management whether fixed assets should be disposed of
  • Assist with performing fixed asset impairment testing on an quarterly basis
  • Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiries
  • Experience dealing with massive data (400,000+ lines)
  • Prepare month-end journal entries for account adjustment and reclassification where necessary
  • Prepare various account reconciliations on a monthly basis to ensure the accuracy of closing the Company's books
REQUIREMENTS
  • Preferably 4+ years of experience in fixed assets
  • Asset Management (AM) knowledge is a plus
  • Retail experience highly desired
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Communicates ideas confidently and clearly; effectively communicates with other team members
