EMBROIDERY / EMBELLISHMENT DESIGNER
General Overview:
Embroidery designer for both women’s and men’s collections.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with product development team to source yarn qualities.
- Create and develop stitches.
- Add accent/novelty colors to contribute to the color palette.
- Advise production team on how to arrange and order protosample and showroom sample yarn.
- Create concepts and direction for sweaters through intensive research.
- Create sweater sketches for EVP and Head Designer to approve.
- Put into work all initial development through tech packs.
- Conduct development and production fittings.
- Advise production team how to proceed for actual production regarding each style: trim, yarn, stitch, fit, etc.
- Work with EVP and Head Designer to order showroom samples.
- Communicate daily with overseas factories.
Success Measures: (measurable goals and objectives)
- Create the best selection of sweaters each season based on current direction and trends.
- Provide the right assortment that merchandising is looking for from their blueprint.
- Find new ways to push sweaters into different categories.
- Re-create best seller styles into new ones.
- Meet calendar deadlines.
Required Experience and Qualifications: (degrees, specific functional skills, professional experience, knowledge, proven accomplishments etc.)
- Fashion design degree.
- Creatively and technically understand how to make a sweater.
- Needs to already be at a designer level.
- Strong communication skills with factories.
- Experience working with high price point collections.
- Computer skills: Excel, Photoshop, etc.
