Position Overview

The Program Manager is responsible for working with UX/UI teams, engineers and designers to facilitate the innovation and user testing of e-commerce, omni-channel and new emerging platforms for Michael Kors. It requires primary skills in Technical Program Management, and solid understanding of process and principles of UX and Graphic Design.  Because the workflow for this user testing falls outside the normal asset workflow, being an out-of-the-box problem solver, exceptional communicator and collaborator, and fearless defender of user quality is essential to this role.

Main Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
A successful candidate builds workflows that not only deploy effectively in the short term, but can be adaptable for massive scale long term.  The right candidate also exhibits initiative, autonomy, and adaptability.

  • Serve as "right hand" to the Group Design Lead as a source of organized information
  • Provide strategic input on scope, resourcing and sequencing of large bodies of work
  • Identify and predict obstacles, collisions and risk to projects across multiple teams and seek solutions to eliminate them
  • Ensure pertinent information is communicated and understood by stakeholders and leadership
  • Own the creation and management of high level design timelines
  • Continuously evolve our design process and tools to adapt to changing needs. Includes communication structures, project templates and meeting cadences
  • Uphold standards and best practices, ensure the design process and tools are applied
  • Develop, implement and manage project plans for select high priority projects; create detailed work breakdowns, establish deadlines and communicate key milestones
  • Scope building a pipeline plan for XD designs
  • Provide context on current tool, UI, and logic limitations and make recommendations for MVP specifications
  • Gather asset coverage requirements and communicate timelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional PM to help advocate on behalf of Experience Design Team for feature requests, UAT, and roadmap prioritizations
  • Review and comment on spec documents by outlining level of effort and a scalable approach for each project
  • Lead project context-sharing meetings with internal team and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Deep dive with Specialists and PMs to be well-versed in Product XD’s workflow
  • Conduct project kickoff meetings;
  • Develop detailed baseline project plans; driving / managing / tracking projects through each phase of the project lifecycle through to successful completion leveraging agile methodologies where necessary;
  • Communicate any status, issues and risks to project stakeholders;
  • Provide leadership to cross-functional project teams, and maintaining project
    documentation.
  • Facilitate strategic stakeholder meetings including preparing agendas, keeping conversation on-track and establishing action items and owners

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Program Management, Product Management, Project Management or relevant experience in a cross-functional (pm, design &  engineering) product driven organization or design agency
  • Proven track record of managing and shipping impactful design initiatives in a large digital product org
  • Background establishing systems, supporting teams, and developing relationships
  • Demonstrable skills and experience in mediation, negotiation, presentation and conflict resolution
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with experience interacting with senior leadership
  • A high-level of attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge with JIRA, Asana or equivalent; capability of managing a ticket queue
  • Willingness to seek out opportunities for self-development and continuing education
