DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL DESIGN, Swim

Summary

The Director of Technical Design will oversee, participate and ensure the effectiveness of the Technical Design Department for the Fashion Swim division. He/she will direct and allocate the activities of the department to ensure timely and accurate product development across the brands.

Responsibilities
• Managing consistency of product fit within a brand.
• Participate in technical/functional activities to assist in managing workloads.
• Participate in calendar building, monitoring and adherence for all brands.
• Coordinate internal and external process analysis. Make recommendations for process improvement.
• Create and monitor processes to ensure timely completion of product development through Technical Services.
• Oversee PLM administration to ensure adherence to corporate practices in relation to PLM.
• Manage digital fabric printing by monitoring deadlines, purchasing materials and maintain maintenance and service contracts.
• Provide analysis, input and/or prepare Technical Services annual budgets. Manage the Technical Services budgets on a day-to-day basis. Evaluate and approve invoices for the department.
• Communicate with upper management regarding recommendations and budgeting for supplies, system enhancements, updates and new software applications.

Skills and Knowledge
• Prior experience in swimwear or intimate apparel
• Skilled in bra cup and underwire development
• Ability to manage/coordinate multiple deadlines and changing priorities
• Good business process awareness
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal/people management skills
• Superior analytical skills and strong attention to detail
• Technical/functional experience or knowledge in technical design, pattern making, pattern grading, material utilization, garment construction
• Comprehensive knowledge of software/hardware technology used, including PLM, WebPDM, AccuMark, MS Windows, Excel, Word, Illustrator, Photoshop, Access, Essentus, networks and servers
• Knowledgeable in all aspects of apparel development
• Extensive fabrics and trims knowledge

Requirements
• B.A. Apparel Design or Apparel Production, or job related equivalent
• 10+ years of experience in technical product development (e.g. technical design, pattern making, pattern grading or marker making)
• 5+ years management experience
