 JOB PROFILE: DIRECTOR

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Retail Stores

DIVSION: Retail

MAIN JOB OBJECTIVE

The Director will be responsible for developing and articulating business strategies to drive sales and increase profitability within the region. The Director will also provide direction, leadership and ongoing training to the District Managers and store teams while ensuring that succession plans are in place for all stores within the region.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

SALES GENERATION

  • Meet sales goals
  • Plan and manage individual as well as district and store goals; track the progress of each store to ensure that all objectives are met
  • Analyze and monitor the sales and expense figures for the region, provide feedback and make recommendations for improvement in order to ensure that store profitability is maximized
  • Track and monitor business results and present the regions sales figures to the VP of Retail for feedback and recommendations
  • Seek new ways to increase business 
  • Support the development of associates’ sales techniques. Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the merchandise; ensure selling staff is fluent in all aspects of product knowledge 
  • Work closely with District/Store Managers to maximize local store marketing events                                         

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Within the guidelines of Jet Set Service, ensure that all employees are properly trained to provide outstanding customer service
  • Ensure staff maintains constant client communication through utilizing their client books
  • Manage client database and utilize information to increase sales and client contact 
  • Maintain floor presence to assist customers, build rapport and monitor client interaction with staff
  • Resolve all client problems and complaints quickly and effectively 
  • Work with District Manager and marketing on all special events inclusive of collection previews, client events, sale events and center events, etc.
  • Empower all employees to  make decisions in the customer’s best interest that also support the Company’s philosophy

OPERATIONS

  • Coordinate new store openings and facilitate the prompt repair of store equipment as required
  • Conduct regular audits of store paperwork, including bank deposit slips, overages/shortages, etc. and track trends to ensure that cash control procedures are in place and observed
  • Ensure that all stores within their district are aware of company directed Shrink reduction initiatives and comply with Loss Prevention practices
  • Control store expenses and maintain budgets, continually striving to reduce costs
  • Ensure deliveries are properly processed in a timely manner
  • Manage and conduct bi-annual inventories
  • Support and assume responsibility for the integrity of Shipping/ Receiving in all areas and ensure that staff adheres to all Shipping/Receiving policies and procedures
  • Ensure staff is trained in all areas of appropriate register usage and maintenance
  • Understand and properly execute all management register functions
  • Build and maintain good communication with members of corporate office, mall office and other stores
  • Conduct regular visits to competitor locations and report observed changes in prices, operations, policies, etc. to the appropriate levels of management
  • Exhibit proficiency in computer programs used by the Company including: Word, Excel

MERCHANDISING/VISUAL

  • Implement and maintain all merchandising directives and ensure execution of effective merchandising strategies
  • Monitor merchandise levels in the region and coordinate the balance of stock between stores to ensure that inventory levels are adequate 
  • Audit bi annual inventory counts for accuracy and to detect merchandise allocation problems; follow-up on recommendations to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained
  • Ensure the selling floor is neat, clean, organized and reflects the correct visual image at all times
  • Ensure presentation of all displays, fixtures and all visual areas are reflective of current visual direction

HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Recruit, train, and develop staff ensuring all positions are filled in a timely manner with qualified personnel
  • Actively participate in the selection, training and development of district and store managers, and track their progress to identify and place qualified individuals as openings become available
  • Support, implement and provide follow-up for all training programs, seminars, etc.
  • Organize and conduct district/store manager meetings as needed, and attend District/ Director meetings to review policies, develop goals, discuss problems and/or situations and evaluate training plans for store personnel.
  • Continually evaluate the performance of each associate and provide constant feedback to ensure results
  • Resolve all human resources issues in a timely and effective manner, partnering with HR when necessary
  • Ensure integrity of payroll and the payroll process
  • Ensure image and grooming standards are professional, reflective of the brand image and adhered to at all times

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5 years retail experience with 3-5 years specialty management.
