Seeking a Director of Production and Product Development (Knitwear) for a luxury RTW apparel company in New York City! MUST  have thick skin and come from an Advanced Contemporary/Luxury apparel company for consideration.

 

Job Description

 

  • Responsible for overseeing product development & production of Knitwear consistent with brand quality, image & profit goals. 
  • Understands Designer’s requirements, identifies & cultivates vendor & supplier strategies that support product needs.
  • Determine factory allocation
  • Establishes & manages a vendor base for the purpose of improving quality, delivery & price.
  • Efficiently uses factory capacities to meet product demand.
  • Determines appropriate production commitment levels for each factory and manages adjustments as needed.
  • Negotiates costs with suppliers to support pricing & margin objectives.
  • Create and maintain initiative to improve gross margin;
  • Responsible for all Material Ordering & Testing from sampling through bulk
  • Develops & manages product specific time action calendars to support Design and ensure that development, sampling & production goals are achieved.
  • Monitor the follow of production goods to ensure on time deliveries
  • Ensures that manufacturers adhere to quality standards & execute production as determined by the brand.
  • Analyses models prior to production to trouble shoot and take steps to prevent any potential quality issues
  • Evaluates & reports on total vendor performance seasonally.
  • Strengthens vendor base by identifying potential new sources. Screens, evaluates, and prioritizes new sources.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 10 years of production experience
  • Knits/ Sweaters experience, luxury end preferred
  • Global exposure – extensive travel experience required
  • 3+ Years in management- strong team leader and motivator
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written & verbal communications
  • Excellent time management & organizational skills
