Job Description

The Director Business Development will lead the growth initiatives and the all channel initiatives for the Off-price Banner.

 

 

 

The Director of Corporate Strategy will have the opportunity to be involved with all phase of the new initiative project lifecycle from inception, to evaluation, to planning to rollout and management.  The initiatives planned in this area are the biggest growth initiatives of the banner and given the unique representation of 50% of sales in digital and 50% of sales in B&M the initiatives have the potential to be on the forefront of all channel commerce.  

 

 

 

Responsibilities include managing all aspects of the initiatives, including project plans, project budgets, deadlines, task member assignment, tasks/responsibility delegation, project evaluation, problem resolution, resource management, analytics, and developing and presenting results to senior management.  This person will lead cross-functional and cross-channel teams, will develop/support project relationships, and act as the point person for project execution and coordination. 

 

 

 

This is a high visibility role and will work closely with senior leadership from Hudson’s Bay Company and the Off-price banner. 

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

 

Demonstrate ownership, accountability and proactive project management, through disciplined and effective planning, documentation, tracking, assessment, and communication

 

 

 

Defining business cases, evaluating, communicating and championing major .com and all channel initiatives that will drive out-sized growth 1-2 years out

 

 

Work with the digital cross functional and store operations team to define execution and new processes,  roll-out and track progress on new initiatives and new functionality (like Buy Online Pick up in Store, In-store Technology)

 

 

Provide thought leadership on an array of management issues directly relating to primary projects as well as larger company priorities outside of the immediate primary responsibilities

 

 

Create project plans (includes tasks, resources, and timeframes) and required project documentation by gaining input from appropriate parties and obtaining management sign-off and commitment.  Provide status reports and project progress updates

 

 

Effective execution of assigned project within deadline

 

 

Rollout of new initiatives and out-sized impact of these initiatives on growth

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

 

 

MBA preferred; BS will be considered if the candidate has significant experience in consulting at the Manager level

 

 

Related Work Experience:  3-5 years of post-graduate (MBA) or 2-3+ years at a highly regarded consulting firm

 

 

Education in business / commerce / econ or related field

 

 

Frame approach and managing all facets of work streams – from launch to delivery

 

 

Demonstrated skills in analyzing results, and synthesizing all outputs for final presentation to internal clients

 

 

Ability to apply complete understanding of theories and concepts from one's

 

 

Maintain, track, report and understand variances in the integrated project

 

 

Create final project deliverables and presenting to internal clients / Executive Leadership team

 

 

Experience in identifying strategic, process, operational, and change management issues and recommending and implementing solutions to resolve problems

 

 

Extensive experience with structuring advanced PowerPoint presentations to communicate ideas, solutions, and findings

 

 

Education and/or experience in managing technical/systems implementations

 

 

Possess very strong project management expertise (planning, organizing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives)

 

 

Strong analytical skills – financial analysis and quantitative methods

 

 

Strong Communication skills, written & verbal

 

 

Strong relationship management skills (team building and leadership)

 

 

Highly competent with PowerPoint, Word, Excel,

 

 

Experience in creating project management frameworks (Issue/Action logs, Status reports/Scorecards, etc)

 

 

Strong influencing skills: proven ability to get things done without formal authority; ability to build and maintain support and buy-in at all levels within the business

 

 

Ability to exercise independent, sound judgment
