Purpose and Scope

John Varvatos is seeking a skilled menswear designer with a
background in luxury to join our Design team. This role will be
responsible for all woven categories.


Job Responsibilities

• Partner with Design Team to create a cohesive collection
that adheres to the creative aesthetics of the brand

• Create and produce production ready artwork

• Ongoing vintage research to facilitate productive design and
creative brainstorming sessions

• Prepare presentation boards

• Research markets (e.g. NY, LA, & Europe) to identify new
trends, fabrics and wash/finish techniques and present tear
sheets, sketches and samples to Design Director

• Follow up and partner with the Product Development team to
ensure that the quality, design and color are executed
correctly, and timelines are met

• Manage and adhere to design calendar and attend all relevant
product meetings as required

• Create and maintain neckwear & accessories archive,
reference books, & color cards

• Ownership of creating/managing tech packs and sample request
charts


Position Requirements

• Strong work ethics

• Strong communication (written & verbal) and organizational
skills

• Resourceful, hands-on, and able to sense urgency

• Ability to gather visual information and assemble concept
and presentation boards

• Keep well organized records of developments both in paper
and product form

• Excellent color sense

• Ability to develop ideas from initial concept through to
finished production art

• Appreciation for and understanding of the John Varvatos
aesthetic

• Have an understanding of luxury market and capable of
researching the trend

• Tailored Clothing, Outerwear, Leather Jackets, Soft Jackets,
Dress/Sport pants, Denim – 5pockets, Sport Shirts


Education and Training

• Undergraduate degree in fashion design or related field


Experience

• 3-5 years of related experience

• Knowledge and background in men’s neckwear and furnishings


Technical Requirements

• Strong hand sketching and illustration skills

• Knowledge of garment construction

• Word, Excel, Photoshop, & Illustrator (intermediate)
