POSITION OVERVIEW 

 

The Designer executes the seasonal design development process, from concept to delivery, by creating and executing original, trend-appropriate design concepts that meet market needs and drive sales, and ensuring the timely execution of each stage in the process.

  

Design Responsibilities:

-Design product assortments based on store account needs, sales & data driven line plans and emerging fashion trends; ensure timely execution of product with adherence to calendar dates.

-Create illustrator sketches; generate spec sheets and line sheet assortments; maintain accuracy of product logs; and organization of design archives.

-Responsible for the creation of dynamic trend boards, sales tools and other design presentation tools needed to satisfy store account needs. Ability to design labels, hang tags and other garment trims is a plus.

-Research and Development of fabrics, trims, patterns, washes, concepts, graphics, color and fashion trends on a seasonal basis to offer our accounts the most up to date product offerings to drive growth.

-Weekly duties include email communications, Flex PLM, Adobe Suite, sketching, fittings, vendor engagement, submit approvals, and meeting attendance.

-Maintenance and organization of the fabric, trim and garments in the design area.

-Must have the ability to conduct color approval, strike off comments, exhibit fabric knowledge and garment construction.

 

Presentation and Follow Up Skills:

-Must be comfortable presenting ideas with confidence and authority to senior management, the sales team and store accounts. Ability to sell ideas, trends and must haves is a plus.

-Coordinate follow-up with internal and external customers; including technical design, production, vendors, senior management and overseas partners.

 

Team Skills:

-Ability to contribute positively within a team dynamic and manage across the organization in order to carry out the role.

-Build collaborative relationships with fellow associates in order to drive growth.

Skills and Requirements

-BFA or Associates Degree in Fashion Design. Affinity for merchandising of product and ideas.

-Flex PLM, Adobe Suites, Microsoft Office, Mac IOS, Windows, sketching, color theory

-3D Software is a plus. Optitex, Clo and/or Brozwear

-Ability to multi-task; detailed, organized, efficient, and meticulous

-Extensive knowledge of woven fabrics, pattern making, garment construction, trims, print and pattern. Cut & Sew knowledge is a plus

-Excellent communication skills, outgoing personality, and can do attitude
