POSITION SUMMARY:

The Designer—CK Retail Men’s Accessories Design, is responsible for assisting in the design of the seasonal collection under the direction of the SVP—Accessories Design. The Designer will oversee material and color research, as well the assembly and creation of inspiration boards for presentation purposes.  Sketching, spec’ing, daily communication with the factories, and prototype corrections are also required functions of the position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • Design and development of seasonal collections for CK Retail Men’s Accessories.
  • Research concepts, materials, hardware and color trends
  • Present initial design concept tear sheets to meet line plan requirements.
  • Research and create seasonal mood and “key concept” boards
  • Prepares design presentations for review meetings
  • Responsible for finished sketches for presentation boards.
  • Designs full face 1:1 spec layouts and prepares spec packages for factories.
  • Assist Senior Designer with design details sheets for 1st proto spec packages.
  • Spec new hardware developments.
  • Render, and adjust artworks in Illustrator.
  • Assisting Senior designer in materialization of the line and preparing materials package
  • Responsible for prototype corrections and communication to factories at all stages under Senior Designer’s guidance
  • Create and Maintain Line sheets in partnership with Associate Designer/Tech Design
  • Attend trade show to observe new trends and materials
  • Ensures timely development of line by adhering to time and action calendar
  • Communicate technical design information to product development team, and factories.
  • Shop and research competitive and international markets for trends on a regular basis.
  • Stays abreast of current and emerging trends via, retailing, web sites, trend services and editorials.
  • Responsible for maintaining organization of sample closets/studio along with NAO design team

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

 

           Experience:       

  •  5 years in accessory designer capacity

 

           Education:

  • Bachelor degree in fashion design—preferably with a concentration in accessories.

 

         

 Skills:                    

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent hand sketch and illustrator capabilities.
  • Flexible to work weekends and long hours when necessary to meet deadlines
  • Possess high fashion aesthetic and understanding of the accessories market.
  • Willingness and ability to travel
