DESIGN / MERCHANDISING INTERN

May 22nd - July 27th 2017

 

Perry Ellis International is seeking a Merchandising/Design Intern for our Latin Brands located in our headquarters in Miami, FL.  Looking for an enthusiastic, self motivated design Intern that will be actively working side by side the design and merchandising team.  They will also have exposure to all of the supporting departments to explore all avenues of the design process. The Intern will assist our Merchandising and Design teams in daily tasks such as the following:

 

     * Assist team in market preparation with showroom samples & presentation boards

 

     * Put together a small assortment and do formal merchandise and design review

 

     * Learn all the principles of design

 

     * Assist the team with coming up with concepts and choosing color stories for the season

 

     * Perform trend research and participate in translating that research into new designs

 

     * Use systems to do sketches and choose color, fabrics, prints, and bodies

 

     * Seasonal line edits: refine and rework fixtures that support selling history and is aligned with the brand

 

     * Analyze sales and trends in order to assist in building stronger line assortments

 

     * Help the merchandising and design teams with additional tasks

 

Requirements:

 

     * Pursuing a degree in Merchandising, Business or Fashion Design preferred

 

     * Currently enrolled and attending an accredited college/university required

 

     * Strong interest in both Merchandising & Fashion Design

 

     * Knowledge of  Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office, and Google Applications

 

     * Detail-oriented and deadline driven

 

     * Ability to multitask

 

     * Schedule is Monday through Thursday 9am-6pm from May 22nd- July 27th (Intern must be able to accommodate this schedule)

 

The 10 week internship will conclude with a final project devised by the team.
