Design Assistant - Women's Sportswear

 Full time Assistant Designer

The Assistant designer will support the Head Designer on the daily functions within the design team, actively participating in all aspect of the design and development process.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Key responsibilities include flat sketching, creating tech packs, creating CADs and maintaining the design room.
  • Exceptional expertise using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel is a must.  
  • Must have a thorough understanding of garment construction and specs to accurately flat sketch garments.
  • Excellent organization skills with ability/willingness to take initiative and own the maintenance of the design office. 
  • Excellent communication and processing skills to follow through on projects with an attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility to move from project to project seamlessly.

  • Prepare and send any needed duplicate samples for showrooms and buyers
  • Partner daily with Designer for review /daily touch base of emails/
    information and/or submits to confirm appropriate direction and reply
  • Assist in seasonal design research- (vintage/ magazine/ on line
  • Assist in preparing all design boards for meeting with Creative
    Director. *Sketch, Mood, Inspirational
  • Understand pricing perimeters and obtain costing details appropriately
  • Prepare all needed layouts/diagrams as needed
  • Maintain neat and organized information of books, design area, garment library.
  • Prepare Designer for fittings: review daily fit list- pull needed samples, and any support information needed.
  • Review fabric board cards, ensure colors requested are accurate

 

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of industry experience preferred.
  • Cut/sew background/ interest preferred.
  • College Graduate- from a design school.
