Copywriter

Job Description

The product copywriter is responsible for ensuring a superior customer shopping experience as a result of writing concise descriptions for multiple categories of business. The position will also be accountable for ensuring timely and accurate completion of all products assigned. Utilizing live merchandise, samples, or vendor-provided product descriptions, the successful candidate writes copy that compels the customer and increases conversion. They are responsible for contributing to the copy standards, as well as contributing ideas for PIM enhancements to improve the copy process. Responsible for maintaining their individual throughput of 75 items per day.

 

Primary Goals

·         Responsible for completing product copy for an average of 75 products per day. Responsible for delaying items that do not have all of the required information to publish. Responsible for the resolution process for quality center defects as well as items not on site in the Warehouse. Identify process and/or system inefficiencies on a regular basis.  Complete product copy for select vendor approval brands

 

·    Validating that completed copy is accurate and to the product copy standards

 

Secondary Goals

·         Thoroughly understand competitive landscape primarily focused on updated copy trends and standards

·         Accuracy based on established standards

·         Working with cross-functional partners to facilitate the product onboarding process

·         Enhancing existing product copy to increase conversion

·         Following and developing copywriting standards for a wide range of commodities

 

 

Qualifications

The Product Copywriter thrives in a faced-paced environment under the pressure of deadlines. They possess excellent time management skills and organization. A multi-tasker and self-starter, the product copywriter is also adaptable to change. The Product Copywriter is creative and collaborative with an eye for detail and a passion for keeping an eye on fashion trends. Thinking creatively, the Product Copywriter’s works strategically to support the needs of the business.

 

Professional Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Advertising, Communication, Fashion, or a related field.

Must have past experience (3+ years) in writing product copy for e-Commerce, retail, vendor. Catalog or digital.

Experience with Product Information Management (PIM), Content Management systems

·         Excellent written communication skills, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar

·         Basic understanding of HTML coding

·         Knowledge of fashion terminology, trends, fabrics, and brands, as well as the luxury market

·         Working knowledge of MS Office

·         Working knowledge of G Suite

 

Educational Credentials

·         Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Advertising, Communication, Fashion, or a related field. French – Canadian Proficiency desired.
