CONTROLLER

Job Description: 

Design Company is seeking a Controller to join their growing company. This role will handle all the day-to-day accounting functions will work directly with owner of the company and understand how to handle the financial operations of the business and its needs.

Responsibilities/activities include:

• Keep controls of and ensure compliance with current financial legislation and legal requirements, both federal and state and state, GAAP, including licenses and registrations necessary to conduct business
• Analyze and interpret financial data, recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance
• Manage and improve the financial programs and supporting information systems that include job costing, general ledger, payroll, employee benefit programs, budgeting and forecasting, tax planning, conservation of assets and efficient control and utilization of the company's resources
• Review payroll reports, sales tax, bank statements for accuracy through audits and reconciliations
• Create proposals, contracts and presentations for corporate accounts
• Review prior data + future desired investments, cash flow, financial goals and current cash position to generate financial forecasts on a bi-weekly basis
• Liaise with legal counsel and represent the organization in all legal matters, ensuring counsel is abreast of any concern or possible course of action that has significant consequences
• Conduct audits of company records, accounts, financial transactions construction records to ensure
compliance with state and federal requirements, statutes and contract compliance including monitoring
retainage levels


Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the fashion industry.
• Proven performance in small business accounting out of the fashion/design industry.
• Results-oriented approach, high energy, balanced with a “take charge” attitude with teamwork and collaboration
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
