Reporting Relationship: The Construction Manager reports directly to the
Director of Construction.

Major Responsibilities
The HBC Construction
Manager organizes and schedules activities associated with the construction of
new stores, as well as expansions and renovations to existing locations.
Role responsibilities
include:
- Review potential expansion locations to determine existing conditions
- Develop preliminary scope of work to establish a proposed budget, and
manage the end-to-end bid process
- Review plans with design group to ensure accuracy, magnitude and
accurate scope of work
- Ensure timely completion of projects within budget and time constraints
by working with contractors
- Responsible for maintaining all project documents, including weekly cost
reports, review contractor progress draws and process for payment
- Work with internal/external partners on the design/drawings to ensure
HBC goals are met
- Adhere to business processes related to the position and offer
suggestions for improvement where possible
- Provide support to internal partners on solutions to problems within
building/projects
- Work with merchant
partners on small, one off interior renovations and rollouts.
Qualifications
Personal Characteristics
The successful
candidate must have strong communication skills as well as proven ability in
building relationships with subcontractors, senior management, vendors, etc.
He/she must possess excellent time management and project management skills,

Professional Qualifications
- 5-7 years of
experience in construction, preferably in retail and renovation of high end
department stores
- Experience in
all aspects of base building construction preferred, on site work experience
- Experience
leading projects involving all construction related trades, understanding of
cost of construction by categories, current construction methods, and
proficiencies in scheduling
- Thorough
knowledge of Standard Building Specifications
- Proven track record of problem solving and conflict
resolution
Educational Credentials
University
degree in architecture / engineering / construction management or equivalent
