COLORIST - Intimate Apparel

Successful intimate apparel company is seeking a Colorist to review color, provide accurate color comments, and track the approval status of base fabric, garment components, aesthetic garments, and production garments.  The successful applicant will ensure that all components on the garment match back to the base fabric and all garments coordinate during each season, while attending color status meetings and communicating with our Production and Merchandising departments.  Further, this individual will partner with our color team overseas and work with our material suppliers, and factories to address and resolve color related issues.  The specific duties of the role are as follows:

  • Receive color submits from mills/factories
  • Review and comment on all color submits to mills/factories
  • Update Excel tracking charts and email daily
  • Proactively discuss with manager any submits that are not getting approved or are taking a long time between submits
  • Work with Overseas, Design and/or Merchandising teams if there are any issues with color approval
  • Update all color cards with approved swatches
  • Assist in monitoring our mills’ ability to match colors
  • Manage and file all approved and rejected swatches in an organized manner
  • Fill applications for CTL Style Confirmation reviews

The successful applicant will have the following skills:

  • Superior color vision
  • Excellent organizational skills (emails, charts, filing, managing by priorities)
  • Ability to work in groups and independently
  • Outstanding computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Fast learner with excellent verbal and email skills
  • Detail orientation and good follow-up skills
  • Knowledge of the Spectrophotometer preferred

We will consider recent graduates, however, our preference is for the following experience:

  • 1-3 years experience as a Colorist in the apparel industry (intimate apparel preferred)
  • Experience with mass or department store color approval (licensed or private label)
  • Previous experience with Wal-Mart or Kohl’s private label color approval preferred
