Children's Footwear Designer & Developer

Who we are looking for:

We seek an energetic, self-motivated and talented individual passionate about the creative process and designing innovative footwear collections that resonate with our retail accounts, parents and children. You understand the product cycle from initial concept and briefing through design, development and commercialization.

You have the ability to establish and develop long-term relationships with vendors, factories and our internal team. You possess amazing communication skills and are a problem solver able to multi-task multiple seasons simultaneously. You will help us grow our business with joy in your heart, attention to detail and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with team to establish seasonal design and concept direction.
  • Research and identify potential product categories and market trends. Attend tradeshows and shop local markets.
  • Sketch original upper and outsole designs as well as sku color and material updates to existing products. Products designed must be in line with set target fob pricing.
  • Create seasonal color palettes and work with team on material development, final approvals and sourcing. Maintain shared materials library.
  • Create specifications and tech packs for product development with factory partners.
  • Review initial prototypes and fit. Provide pattern corrections and revised specs.
  • Travel to overseas factories once per season for review of patterns and materials for seasonal development.
  • Approve and track samples from prototype, color samples to photo shoot, sales samples and graded fit and wear test.  
  • Follow through on all tasks necessary to manage the process from initial concept through pre-production – confirmation sample approval.   
  • Strategize with team members to execute seasonal sales launch and market initiatives.
  • Adhere to all calendar & product development deadlines. Assist in creating seasonal timelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA in Fashion Design, Footwear Design or Industrial Design is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years experience in the footwear or accessories industry with a demonstrated track record.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Ability to execute hand drawn and CAD drawings which translate to easily to patterns and outsole development.
  • Highly motivated and joyful personality.  Impeccable professionalism.
  • Capacity to work well in a team environment and independently.
  • Strong organization, time management skills and capability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to connect face to face and in group settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills with a focus on building long-term partnerships.
  • Attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and quality. Additional projects
  • as requested.
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the year.

Compensation: Salary dependent on experience, plus benefits. No relocation assistance offered.
