CAD TECHNICIAN - JEWELRY EXP REQUIRED - Based in Austin, TX - Relocation Provided

RELOCATION PACKAGE PROVIDED IF NEEDED

 Position Overview: 

The goal of the position is to support and facilitate all aspects related to design projects to meet aesthetic, functionality, and manufacturing objectives and timeline commitments. Service all aspects related to the Design department including: creation of manufacturing models; technical artwork; creation and maintenance of design specifications; identification and implementation of design technologies.  Work closely with Design and Technical Development to provide CAD models that result in the highest quality finished good product at best manufacturing yield and cost.

Responsibilities:

CAD/CAM Model Creation

  • Plan, develop, and maintain mechanical 3D CAD models, drawings and images for product based on manager’s direction
  • Provide 3D CAD models and technical specifications to yield the highest quality finished products
  • Adjust factory-produced CAD models to meet aesthetic and functionality expectations for styles
  • Explore non-traditional jewelry techniques to use to create CAD models
  • Operate and maintain 3D printer
  • Contribute to technical innovations and design
  • Create photo realistic renders from CAD files

   CAD Technology

  • Keep current with design technology.  Report findings and make recommendations for new technologies to management
  • Troubleshoot existing technologies
  • CAD technology leadership among coworkers

   Operations

  • Establish, monitor, and ensure timeline and accurate completion of projects.  Keep management updated on project status
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and creation of efficiencies within area of responsibility and overall department.  Create and implement plans to achieve results
  • Provide operational leadership among coworkers

   Shared Resource Management

  • Maintain and organize 2D and 3D shared files and design standards
  • Partner with Design team members and Technical Design to organize standards

   Design Team Member

  • Maintain a high level of communication with other members of the design team to ensure continual progress toward timely assortment completion
  • Adapt personal aesthetic to be compatible with brand aesthetic and changing market trends
  • Stay open to team adjustments to all samples and models, and be prepared to follow other designer’s aesthetic direction and changes
  • Maintain a clean, efficient and safe working environment
  • Other tasks as assigned 

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • 6 years of CAD/CAM experience in related field
  • Ability to produce models in Matrix optimized for manufacturing
  • Ability to create organic CAD models using T-splines
  • Ability to create models using Zbrush or other CAD sculpting programs
  • Rapid prototype experience
  • Knowledge of jewelry fabrication and manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Ability to take instruction and direction, including effective use of constructive feedback
  • Have basic problem solving skills with an eye for technical detail
  • Contribute to pleasant and fast paced work environment 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Software familiarity with JewelCAD, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Computer skills in Microsoft packages
