BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ARCHITECT

The primary role of the Business Intelligence (BI) Architect is to assist the organization in obtaining information about the business that facilitates and optimizes the day-to-day and strategic decision making. The BI Architect will assist the business in understanding available information, utilizing Business Intelligence and analytical tools and defining creative, information-based solutions that will provide value for the business. The BI Architect will work in partnership with the business, taking ownership of their reporting needs and ensure that end user needs are appropriately and accurately addressed.

 

The BI Architect is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of Enterprise Business Intelligence solutions, including reports, dashboards, and other data extracts to meet the needs of the business.

 

The BI Architect works collaboratively with the Enterprise Data Architect to define and manage the data structures required to support the Enterprise BI solutions. The BI Architect is responsible for ensuring that reports and analytics can be understood uniformly throughout the company. This role will be engaged in multiple projects and ensure that each initiative is supported by a reporting and analytics platform.

 

The Business Intelligence Architect will report to the Director of Application Architecture.

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for architecting a road map for an enterprise-wide BI reporting and analytics platform.
  • Recommend appropriate technologies to support the implementation of the BI roadmap.
  • Provide Business Intelligence technical and architectural guidance to projects and teams, ensuring that new initiatives are enabled with effective data reporting.
  • Work with the Enterprise Data Architect to insure that the logical and physical data models support the analytic needs of the business.
  • Collaborate with key business users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery.
  • Design, develop and distribute accurate reports to business units as needed/requested.
  • Assist in the design, development and implementation of reports using BI-tools such as Microstrategy, Microsoft Reporting Service and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Identify and analyze reporting requirements and work with the Enterprise Data Architect on design concepts to support those needs.
  • Develop reports or other output forms, such as Dashboards, that meet the organization’s information needs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and data anomalies encountered in reporting processes using analytical and "data forensics" to identify and determine a remediation strategy for data issues.
  • Develop and maintain Business Intelligence job scheduling and database updates.
  • Provide assistance to the user community in their use of corporate reporting tools. This activity includes documentation on how to use reporting tools, hands-on assistance to the end-users, and conducting training when it is required.
  • Collaborate with business and data owners to successfully implement and maintain enterprise level Business Intelligence and Analytics platforms/tools.
  • Develop front-end and ETL specification to support business requirements for reporting across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise data dictionary as part of the multi-year IT strategy and Digital Transform
  • Work with IT Business Analysts and Enterprise Data Architect and ensure that reporting and analytics projects are delivered on schedule and on budget. 
  • Responsible for the design, configuration and maintenance of both Production and Non-Production reporting environments.
  • Develop reporting standards and best practices to ensure data and key metric standardization and consistency across the enterprise.
  • Create, maintain, and manage documentation for all Business Intelligence and report development efforts.
  • Work with business to define service level agreements related to all Business Intelligence processes and services. 
  • Continue to investigate and evaluate emerging BI technologies.

 

 

 

 Requirements:

 

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in Fashion Apparel / Footwear industry and understanding of Retail processes and reporting requirements.
  • 5 years of experience in Information Technology including Business Intelligence architecture, report development and analytics.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering).
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or comparable ERP solutions.
  • Experience with Microstrategy Business Intelligence platform is required.
  • Experience providing production support and/or development in business intelligence/ enterprise data warehouse.
  • Experience with enterprise planning solutions (JDA, TXT Retail, JustEnough, or comparable solution) is a plus
  • Knowledge of relational SQL database, Microsoft SQL Server preferred.
  • Excellent decision making and strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business problems and provide BI solutions.

  • Experience in successful, large scale system implementations.
  • Outstanding verbal, written and visual presentation skills.

  • Strong sense of urgency in executing responsibilities and flexible when business needs require immediate changes to priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and Power Point is essential.
  • Experience in any of the following areas is a plus: global manufacturing, global retailing, global supply chain planning, wholesale or retail merchandising.
