ASSOCIATE TECHNICAL DESIGNER - Plus Size Women’s Contemporary Apparel

The associate technical designer is the team lead to partner with the design director, and patternmakers in live fittings. They oversee tech packs from development stage and through production stage. In addition, they will be involved in fitting and communicating the fit comments overseas and domestic.

Responsibilities:   

• Conduct fittings on live models to determine fit corrections  
• Determine corrections to achieve fit by communicating with pattern maker or flat technical sketches   
• Oversee initial sample specifications from design sketch. Establish close partnership with design in order to facilitate the interpretation of design concepts   
• Meet weekly with production team regarding the sample approval status in order to maintain company time/action calendars   
• Interact on a daily basis with agents/vendors/clients to problem solve all issues related to garment engineering   

Qualifications:   

• 4 Year College Degree: Preferred with training in technical design
• 3-5 years in the apparel industry in technical design
• Must have live model fit experience   
• Must have extensive knowledge of patternmaking & garment construction   
• Ability to work in high volume department and interact with multiple cross-functions   
• Strong written and verbal communication skills   
• Must have team lead experience   
• Ability to travel overseas to factories to troubleshoot & expedite production when needed

Experience in contemporary plus size will be seen as very favorable.
