ASSOCIATE TECHNICAL DESIGNER

A New York based, apparel company that creates products for men, women and children is looking for an Associate Technical Designer for woven and knit apparel.

Salary/Rate: $50-65K 

Position Overview: Seeking a talented Associate Technical Designer with experience working with either men’s, women’s or children’s apparel.

Responsibilities: 

• Approve the fit of specs, pre-production and final production samples from out-sourcing makers
• Work with designers and production coordinators for fitting comments
• Comment on the fit of samples, garment construction, pattern sewing and decoration placements
• Draw sketches and describe the pattern, sewing, etc. 
• Create final graded size specs following each customer’s requirements
• Assist designers for new design style initial specs
• Coordinate same size spec for each type of knit and woven body
• Review samples made overseas and provide clear and articulate comments along with pattern correction suggestions
• Issue graded specs 
• Produce woven and knit tops, dresses, jackets and pants in all sizes for young contemporary individuals

Qualifications:                      

• Minimum 2-5 Years of tech design experience
• Formal education in pattern making and apparel production
• Knowledge of patterns, drapes, grading and garment construction
• PC proficiency with Word and Excel
• Familiarity and experience with PLM and BlueCherry  is a plus

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field
