ASSOCIATE MERCHANDISER

Overview:

The Associate Merchandiser will be responsible for supporting the creation of seasonal fashion assortments and financial plans for the Toddler Boy category of the business, including management of the product lifecycle process, tracking and organizing samples, preparing weekly sales reports, and supporting the daily work flow functions within the team.

Responsibilities:
  • Research and recommend growth opportunities and key item strategies
  • Identify down trending categories and implement new ideas to address the business needs
  • Actively participate in strategy and line review meetings to understand seasonal business strategies and specific product initiatives
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with broad cross-functional teams including Design, Global Sourcing, Marketing, Planning & Allocation, Visual Merchandising, and Store Communications to achieve a seamless product-to market process
  • Prepare and present weekly sales reports and make actionable business recommendations
  • Supervise the management and organization of prototype samples, which includes accurately sorting newly adopted styles by trend and category
  • Review, edit, and audit line sheets and story boards, detailing styles, SKU numbers, prices, color, season, delivery date, quantity, etc. to effectively communicate all necessary information to teams
  • Stay abreast of industry fashion trends and competitor activity through weekly market research and analysis
  • Train Merchandise Assistants, interns, and trainees
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising, business, or related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in merchandising preferred, with exposure to both product development and buying responsibilities

Skills and Behaviors:

  • Strong organizational, planning, presentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work across departments in order to constantly keep product cycle current, on time, and organized
  • Able to thrive in a multi-tasked, fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Must have a passion for fashion and an eye for trend, pattern, color, and graphics
