• Support the entire design and development process for a given brand/season.
• Responsible for the design process of a category under the guidance of a Designer to include global market research to identify trends and innovation, trend board creation, designing, sketching, technical packs.
• Support the Designer in delivering appropriate point of difference merchandise in line with the brand profile. Work with designer to help execute seasonal line plan in partnership with product management analyzing core customer and the market to ensure constant evaluation and improvement of product to move the brand forward.
• Provide training and mentoring to Assistant Designer.
Responsibilities:
• Assist designer in initial concepts and sketches, innovative design solutions incorporating technology, color, fabric/finish standards, print & pattern, and trim for a singular brand.
• Introduce new ideas for a given category based on information and inspiration from trade shows, conducting online research, meeting with vendors, conducting competitive and aspirational shopping.
• Build tech pack including technical sketch and bill of materials
• Work with technical design, designer and product management to ensure that technical packages are accurate and complete. Attend seasonal fit analysis and weekly fit sessions. Collaborate with design peers on seasonal challenges and successes within their brands, ie, system short cuts, color challenges, etc. Shop the market, including our stores, with designer, product management and merchants to promote partnership and increase the understanding of each other's point of view. Under the guidance of the designer, collaborate with product management and merchants on a consistent basis on a given category. Adhere to the time and action calendar
• Build/update seasonal product/trend/color boards
• Room set up for product presentations and other requests as required
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree- Design oriented
3+ years in-depth involvement in the design development process
