Associate Designer

SUMMARY

The Associate Designer generates original artwork based on Design Director’s seasonal focus. Creates Illustrator CAD’s for concept presentations, technical specifications and sales team communications. Utilizes reference samples and internal resources to execute detailed renderings of sock designs. Supports forward thinking ideas with trend analysis centered around socks within the Ladies, Girls, and Infant Toddler mass and mid-tier marketplace.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Takes direction from Merchandising and Design Director to create CAD artwork for sock patterns and individual artwork and planogram renderings
  • Translates original ideas into technical specifications, including detailed construction information
  • Contributes to marketplace research for trending knit stitches, patterns, and color
  • Combines self directed research with Design Directors’ research to create cohesive statements across multiple platforms
  • Develops internal and external presentation materials to include digital slideshows, story boards, and catalogues
  • Continuously seeks to learn new knit constructions as it pertains to fit features, functions, and fashion
  • Support Design Director on all projects to help propel business forward
  • Adheres to established Merchandising Planning Calendar
  • Performs additional duties as needed, which are designated by the Design Director, or Senior VP Merchandising and Design

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate Design Degree or higher within design, textiles, or product development. Will consider equivalent industry experience of 3 years or more, combined with certificate program.
  • 2-3 years of closely related Apparel, Accessories, or Graphic Design industries required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Expert in Illustrator, with had sketching skills
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and interest into ladies, girls and infant toddler markets
  • Willing to travel on occasion to assist with meetings or trend research
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment, with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent aesthetic sense for composition and color matching
  • Willingness to adapt, and a inherent drive for successful realization of saleable product
