ASSISTANT DESIGN COORDINATOR

Position Range 35k – 45k

General Overview:

The purpose of this position is to assist the V.P. of Design in all the planning and administrative coordination associated with maintaining the team and calendar.

Responsibilities:

Calendar: Coordinate the design and development calendar

Administrative:

  • Assist with phone calls, scheduling, filing, organizing, and maintenance of information and paperwork
  • Monitor staff attendance, vacation and sick days
  • Monitor and submit expense reports

BMS:

  • Line sheets: initiating line sheets, maintaining development line sheets until the pass off to merchandising
  • Cut tickets: issue cut tickets during crunch times to help design team

Boards: Create boards for design at beginning of each season based on the initial line sheets

Showroom maintenance: Make sure that the showroom is always in beautiful presentation order 

Office maintenance: Make sure that design area, dropped samples and storage spaces are organized 

Meetings: Attend all design meetings to take notes, and follow-up with design/development team to ensure that the tasks are being completed for the next meetings and deadlines

Communication: Filter needs and requests from sales, merchandising and production to Design

Samples: Send all samples to sales and production for pass off and markets

Prepare for Market: Work with Visual team, sales team and design to ensure that all market tools are ready including showroom samples, look books, AD looks, color cards, mannequins, model, order shoes, measurement reference information

Post market and mid-season follow-up on new ads and changes

Tools for sales:

  • writing inspiration for each season category

Success Measures: (measurable goals and objectives) 

Present – 3mos.

  • Learn BMS to create doll sheets
  • Understand and take over all administrative responsibilities and functions
  • Create check off lists and working tools for market and meeting preparation

3-6mos.

  • Understand and start to take ownership of the calendar
  • Understand design development process and roles

6-mos – 1 year

  • Be proactive in all roles and responsibilities and start to initiate these functions without prompt from superior

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Preferred a degree from a fashion design university – Design and Merchandising
  • If not at least a strong interest
