The Assistant Buyer assists the Senior Buyer/Buyer in the selection and procurement of merchandise, maximizes sales, and provides operational support and management.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB: 

  • Ownership of a category with responsibility for preparing buys and achieving revenue/margin targets.
  • Assist in the management of 3rd party vendor relationships and business.  Responsibilities include attending market appointments, buy writing, communicate selling, and receipt tracking.
  • Responsible for the life cycle of purchase orders; initial set up, follow up on purchase order entry, communication of any changes, tracking/reconciling/reporting receipt of merchandise.
  • Prepares weekly merchandise analysis reports, including color analysis/program analysis/fit analysis, as well as monthly on-order for open to buy.
  • Sample Management is critical aspect of the job; tracking samples, keeping racks in order, reviewing all TOP’s with Senior Buyer, preparing samples for presentations with Sr. Buyer and Leadership team
  • Manages all operational and administrative functions to ensure smooth operation in the buying department.
  • Ensures accuracy of merchandising reports, purchase order log, assortment sheets and receipts, utilizing delivery reports and system generated reports. 
  • Builds and maintains relationships amongst cross functional partners; Develops relationship with PDG team and follows up on key business issues and opportunities.
  • Daily communication and development of strong partnerships with Operations, Product Planner, Store Allocator and Merchandise Coordinator to ensure accurate receipt recap in OTB, accurate product distro and ensures PO entry and updates are done in a timely manner
  • Monitors sales and inventory on a weekly basis.
  • Assists in preparing markdowns, purchases, floor plans and open to buys.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Assistant Buying or Merchandising

       

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field

Skills:  Proficiency in PC skills (IP, Excel)
