ASSISTANT BUYER - Department Store - Fortune 500 Retailer

Our client is an established Fortune 500 Retailer specializing in discount goods for Men, Women and Children. Their product assortment includes apparel, accessories, footwear and home goods. They are seeking an Assistant Buyer to partner with the buying team on managing the entire PO cycle.

Salary/Rate: $50k

Position Overview: The Assistant Buyer is responsible for securing merchandise to develop product assortments to maximize sales.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Buyer:

• Create strong relationships with vendors
• Manage purchase order cycle
• Analysis of buying reports to monitor business performance
• Utilizing product knowledge to acquire new resources
• Manage receipt flow
• Assist buying team with administrative and operational support

Qualifications for the Assistant Buyer: 

• Assistant Buyer must have advanced Excel skill, including V Lookups and Pivot Tables
• Adept at working in a fast-paced high-volume environment
• Prior experience in a fashion position (i.e. merchandising, buying, planning, retail, wholesale)
• Detail-oriented
• Strong communication skills
• Proficient in using a PC

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree
