APPAREL DESIGNER - Intimates and Sleepwear

We are a mid size Intimates and Sleepwear company located in NYC seeking an Intimates and Sleepwear Apparel designer.

PLEASE do not respond unless you have 2-5 years design experience in Intimates/Sleepwear!

Please advise salary requirements.

We have two divisions:

-Entertainment: Focused on licensed entertainment properties with a streetwear flavor geared towards Young Men and Juniors aged 15-35. We have nearly every property you can think of and sell stores such as Urban Outfitters, Hot Topic, ThinkGeek and Spencer's. We have licenses such as DC Comics, Rick & Morty, Pokemon, Harry Potter, etc.

-Contemporary: Focused on more sophisticated looks targeting Women ages 25-45. We sell stores such as Bloomingdales, Lord and Taylor, TJ Maxx and Ross.

Principal Functions and Responsibilities:

• Design and sketch product that reflects the current trends for specialty stores for sleepwear and intimates.
• Develop packaging concepts and ideas.
• Understand current trends and research fabrics, trims and printing techniques for licensed properties.
• Direct graphic designers in development and execution of projects.
• Work with licensors to make sure that designs get approved in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with buyers and licensors on all product approvals for design, fit and packaging to meet deliveries.
• Review and make comments on tech packs making sure all licensed art comments and legal lines are followed.
• Work with tech team to develop and execute samples and designs.
• Participate in fittings from first fit through TOP samples of all designs, maintaining license requirements.
• Communicate daily with overseas factories on product being developed and in production.
• Gather and evaluates industry, competition, market, and historical information

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education

• Bachelor's degree in fashion design required

Work Experience:

• 2-5 years design experience in intimates/sleep and/or licensing
• Experience with development of tech packs

Knowledge:

• Be a team player
• Knowledge of garment construction - lingerie a plus
• Excellent in Adobe Illustrator and proficient in Adobe Photoshop
• Sketching ability
• Excellent organizational skills
• Detail oriented
• Able to interpret information from multiple sources to make decisions
• Possesses strong sense of urgency - make it happen
• Ability to prioritize tasks, while maintain an emphasis on the bigger picture
