About the Position:

Reporting to the Director of Consumer Insights, the Consumer Insights Analyst is responsible for conducting advanced analysis of quantitative and qualitative consumer data in support of Ann Taylor or LOFT and Lou & Grey’s strategic initiatives. The role requires an ability to offer deep retail insights and actionable recommendations that both surface new data-driven opportunities for growth and evaluate the effectiveness of key efforts already underway. An ideal candidate would balance a strong attention to detail and data integrity, while also maintaining a focus on the high-level, strategic relevance of the recommendations being made.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer transactional and demographic data to surface deep insights into complex shopping behavior
  • Analyze NPD market share data and macro retail trends to uncover changes in the competitive landscape and flesh out whitespace opportunities
  • Help oversee the customer experience management measurements across all client touch points and create and/or report to business as necessary
  • Write and analyze customer database queries and liaise with internal groups for additional data where needed
  • Synthesize disparate findings into cogent, action-oriented recommendations and deliver persuasive oral/written presentations to brand and marketing leaders in order to gain buy-in on execution
  • Produce and own a standard set of reports and metrics to monitor the health of the brands, surface growth opportunities and make suggestions for improved performance
  • Gather secondary research and work with third-parties to conduct primary research to uncover compelling insights into changing trends within retail and women’s apparel
  • Assist in surfacing and vetting new tools and best practices for analyzing customer behavior

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field of study
  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience in research (market research, statistical modeling and/or retail financial analysis), apparel retail (strategy, marketing, buying and/or planning) and/or consulting (strategic or management)
  • Working knowledge of retail and trends in women’s apparel
  • Analytics skills, with experience in SAS, Business Objects, Microstrategy, Access and Excel
  • Experience with a broad range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Working knowledge of NPD capabilities and experience using DecisionKey a plus
  • Advanced project management skills (e.g., setting of priorities/milestones, communication and follow-through, time management, ability to build effective partnerships)
  • Superb oral and written communication/presentation skills with an ability to present persuasively
  • Demonstrated skills in working cross-functionally in an organization, synthesizing data from various sources and crafting cohesive, strategic, actionable recommendations
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and self-starting on solutions
