ACCOUNTANT - High End Jewelry & Watch

Account Responsibilities

  • Process month end closing entries – subject but not limited to: sales, cost of sales, cc fees, compensation allocation, inventory and money transfers.
  • Reconcile bank statements for four entities, including clearing checks and making appropriate entries.
  • Reconcile all business credit card statements and book to the right expense accounts.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly state sales tax for filing for New York and Massachusetts while keeping up with tax laws.
  • Run monthly inventory reports for fabric and finished goods to analyze the aging of inventory using season codes.
  • Post and roll forward monthly depreciation and fixed asset schedules.
  • Maintain daily cash reconciliations for three retail stores to match company POS and bank to ensure that all cash and credit card transactions are being funded daily.
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll entries for all departments.
  •  Check daily mail for credit card company chargebacks, thoroughly investigate, and dispute when necessary.
  • Uphold a monthly COGS analysis that contains beginning inventory, purchases, freight, transfers, cost of sales, and ending inventory
  • Work closely with the CFO to evaluate company P&L and Balance Sheet in preparation for Board of Director meetings
  • Work with the Senior Accountant to analyze activity in the General Ledger to prepare for company audits and BOD meetings
  • Report directly to the CFO
  • Prepare in excel an analysis of P&L to show current and PY financials, along with variance and GP %
  • Work with Accounts Payable manager to ensure that invoices are entered into the correct period
  • Work on special projects as assigned
