CAD Operator & Assistant Designer

As a CAD Operator & Assistant Designer you will be responsible for working on new concepts and diesgns, by delivering the correct interpretation of selling information, market trends, color direction, for the various categories of the home business. The  CAD Operator & Assistant Designer is responsible for assisting in the creation of unique and differentiated products to propel growth for the company. The  CAD Operator & Assistant Designer will develop unique and aspirational product, and deliver a consistent message of  quality, function, and style to our customers.

Essential Functions:

. Coordinate with lead designers to help execute bed mappings, layouts, artwork adjustment, color work and design of decorative components

• Generate and present concept boards & presentations for customers

• Create new products that reflect market trends and match customer needs.

• Work alongside Design Director and Sales team to develop new areas of opportunities.

• Create CAD’s or technical specs for each design or collection.

• Prepare and communicate daily with overseas partners regarding development/sampling process.

• Travel overseas when needed, to work with manufacturers to evolve current designs and to look for additional areas of opportunity.

• Constantly shop competitors to understand the market, make sure design provides differentiation.

• Review and approve design details, samples and pre-production samples with Design Director and Sales team.

• Domestic and overseas travel to trade shows in order to stay current with fashion trends.

 

Qualifications:

 

• Applicant must have strong technical knowledge of production techniques and experience with factories overseas.

• Proven verbal and written communication skills.

. Minimum 2-5 years of design related experience

• Clearly presents concept boards, CAD’s, plans, status, issues, risks, and requirements to appropriate audiences.

• Superb time management skills. Effective management of multiple, concurrent projects against aggressive timelines without compromising accuracy or quality.

• Flexibility to travel on Europe trend trips, and sourcing/PD trips in Asia.

• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and strict deadlines.

• Proficient in relevant computer programs, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop.

• Complete understanding of PC or Mac based operations

• Strong color and print sense

• Relevant Bachelor's degrees in industrial design or graphic design education is preferred.
