Position Overview:

The Raw Material Associate is responsible for core and seasonal research, gathering, and development of a raw materials. Is a key partners for cross-functional teams and external vendor/mill partners in the development and execution of brand-fabrics.  They will focus on sustainable solutions that achieve aesthetic and pricing parameters.  Champions company values and leadership principles.  This position is based in our NY Design Office.

Performance requirements
  • Sources new seasonal raw materials ensuring cost, quality and aesthetic meet brand expectations 
  • Regular competitive and aspirational shopping to gain perspective on trends and seasonal point of view for brand  
  • Assesses and communicate risk and guide cross functional partners through to resolution
  • Acts as liaison for external and internal partners to provide brand right solutions
  • Manages tailoring and early wear test requests for new fabrications
  • Ensures timeliness of sample yardage
  • Influences adherence to timelines and deliverables of the product life calendar.
  • Negotiate leadtimes and call out long leadtimes to cross functional partners
  • Supports standardization of fabric and multi sourcing approvals
  • Monitors and report on supplier performance and execution; ensuring resolution
  • Maintains Raw Material library to support seasonal inspiration.
  • Supports Raw Materials Negotiations and passes projections to mills; ensures full leverage of fashion across categories
  • Travel –Domestic as needed
Work Experience and education requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Textiles (or related area) or equivalent work experience.
  • Min 3-5 years of technical fabric experience in the apparel trade
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Solid knowledge of textile dyeing, printing and finishing and garment washes; knowledge of denim and wash, a plus
  • Experience working directly with fabric mills.
  • Strong Team orientation and ability to maintain collaborative relationships
  • Good Communication, presentation and negotiation skills
