The Art and Science of Intimates

Wacoal is known for designing exceptional lingerie that combines great fit and function with beautiful design. Wacoal provides exemplary service which contributes to lasting consumer trust and confidence. Our quality materials, meticulous attention to fit, superior technology and beautiful design provides a superlative wearing experience of great comfort, support, and longevity.

Helping women to look and feel their best has always been our mission. Our wearers are passionately loyal and once they discover the advantages of choosing Wacoal they rarely wear anything but Wacoal. Because of this, Wacoal has become the leading bra brand in many fine department and specialty stores.

Our History

Wacoal was founded in Japan in 1949 by Koichi Tsukamoto. His goal was to bring beautiful intimate apparel to women across the globe that would offer a higher level of excellence and innovation to the industry. He was extraordinarily successful building teams of like-minded designers, researchers, merchants and others who together have created a Wacoal brand with global reach. In 1964, Wacoal established the Human Science Research Center as an organization dedicated to scientific research on women's beauty.

In 1985, Wacoal launched its brand in America, with the same dedication to excellence and innovation. As a new brand in the U.S. Wacoal had a philosophy that was quite simple and unique – make the best fitting and most comfortable products with high quality materials and workmanship backed by world class service. Although our prices were higher than most and with no sale offering, the ultimate judge was the consumer. Our amazing fit consultants partnered with sales associates all over the country and one at a time we helped educate and ultimately convert women to wear products that gave them great comfort (sometimes life changing) and outstanding value. In 2005 Wacoal bras attained the#1 ranking for dollar sales in department stores and consistently increased share to the dominant position we enjoy today. Ultimately, our success comes from always putting the consumer first and maintaining a constant focus on making innovative, long lasting products that truly perform. In 2009, Wacoal America launched a new line aimed at a younger fashion consumers called b.tempt'd. This line offers the same celebrated fit and quality Wacoal is known for.

Today Wacoal America products are offered in North and South America, Japan, Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand and we continue to be influenced by Koichi's inspiration.

Wacoal Fit Consultants

Many women tell us they have a life changing experience in the dressing room with a Wacoal fit consultant. This "aha" moment often shows them that they are wearing the wrong size and the wrong styles for their body type. Our fit consultants are trained to ask thoughtful questions about a woman's wardrobe needs and lifestyle and to provide professional fitting and product advice. It only takes a few minutes but the resulting improvement in how she looks and feels is long lasting.

We encourage all women and all figure types to see a Wacoal trained intimate wardrobe expert to experience the difference that the right Wacoal bra, panty or shapewear piece can make.

Wacoal Gives Back

As a company dedicated to helping women look and feel beautiful, it is natural for Wacoal to play an important role in the fight against breast cancer. In 1999, we created the first Awareness Bra. Its pink ribbon on each back band reminds women to practice regular breast health.

Two years later, Wacoal launched Fit for the Cure®, a unique initiative that raises funds for breast cancer awareness, treatment and research by offering complimentary bra fittings at more than1300 store events across America and in Canada every year. Wacoal donates $2.00 to Susan G. Komen® for every woman who participates in a complimentary fitting, and makes additional donations for bras and shapewear purchased at the event. Our teams of fit specialists are on hand at every event to help participants find their correct bra size and find styles to flatter them and their wardrobes.
To date, we have raised well over $4.7 million dollars for Susan G. Komen® and have fitted nearly 800,000 women.

Every October, we also participate in Breast Cancer Awareness month with programs that raise additional funds for Susan G. Komen
®.
