In 2010, the brands Sandro, Maje, and Claudie Pierlot merged into SMCP Group to create the first French group of affordable luxury ready-to-wear. 51% of the company is held by investment fund L Capital (100% owned by LVMH, the world's largest luxury goods conglomerate) and Florac. The remaining 49% is held by the historical managers of the brands : Evelyne Chétrite, Judith Milgrom, Frédéric Biousse, and Elie Kouby.
Sandro opened its first boutique on Rue Vieille du Temple in the heart of the Marais and is now the definitive label for feminine, versatile dressing. Today Sandro has a huge global following with 140 boutiques worldwide. Sandro can be spotted for the elegance and femininity of its collections and the recurring tinges of a rock motif. Every look has been studied with a view to creating a fashionable spirit that is modern and has flair: off-beat details and the mixing of fabrics and styles bring items with a unique twist to our customers. The Sandro style is at the same time unusual and off-beat.
Judith Milgrom, the founder of Maje, prefers to think that a garment has a soul and that it can tell a story. The history of Maje captures this delicate philosophy. Judith created the name “Maje” as a combination of the initials of the names of her loved ones. The Maje wardrobe, inspired by her determination, blends the classic and the original with a focus on glamorous pieces and sharp details. The Maje spirit is a resolutely feminine silhouette, both simple and bold.
In 2011, SMCP Group expanded to the US market, bringing the brands Sandro and Maje to New York City. In 2012, it is expanding across the United States, beginning in California.
