Company Profile

COMPANY BACKGROUND:

Hanky Panky distributes its products through better department stores, specialty retail boutiques, catalogs and select online e-commerce sites in the U.S. and around the world.

The business was founded over 30 years ago and has grown to a staff of over 150 people with the two founders still at the helm. The company has a large production and shipping facility in the Hollis section of Queens, New York.

Quality control, superb customer service, professional production management and quick turnaround time are competitive advantages.

OUR HISTORY

Over 30 years ago, in 1977, designer Gale Epstein created a hand-made lingerie set for her friend, Lida Orzeck, crafted out of embroidered handkerchiefs. The original designs wowed retailers and industry experts and were the inspiration for the company name, Hanky Panky.

With the inception of the hanky set in the seventies to the thongs of today, Hanky Panky continues to influence trends in lingerie and sleepwear. We pride ourselves on providing brilliant solutions for fashion fit issues by remaining dedicated to innovative design, comfort, quality, and US production.

Each garment is made from the finest fabrics, creating supple collections season after season. Blending traditional with modern glam looks, Hanky Panky regularly appears in magazines and is a fashion favorite of countless celebrities.

DESIGN

In 1986, the first 4811 Original Rise thong was designed in NYC by Gale Epstein, Hanky Panky's Creative Director. Since then, the 4811 and its younger sister, the 4911 Low Rise thong, have become classics. Many women wear these styles exclusively and wouldn't dream of wearing any other undies.

MATERIALS

The World's Most Comfortable Thong® starts with the best materials. Each component was chosen for its specific stretch qualities, softness and fit. Also, 100% of the fabrics and trims used to make our Signature Lace thongs and panties are knitted in the USA. Even the Supima® cotton fibers used to make the lining are grown in the USA. Our Signature Lace is an exclusive pattern available only to Hanky Panky.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Hanky Panky panties are constructed with the best methods available. Each thong uses over 30 yards of thread. More thread means more stitches per inch, and more stitches means a more durable, high quality product.

COPYCATS

We've been making our signature style of thong for a long time now, and there are many knockoffs available at every price point. Ours is still far and away the superior product. Many of the copycats may look the same superficially, but they do not have our exclusive laces (protected by copyright), and they do not have our signature fit, feel, and long life. Also, many of these copycat undies are manufactured in countries where you have no guarantee of humane working conditions, so "bargain" undies may come at the cost of the health and safety of the people who make them.

MADE IN THE USA

Hanky Panky has been manufacturing in the Northeast area of the USA since 1977. Manufacturing locally saves time, fuel, and shipping costs, thus drastically reducing the generation of CO2. It also keeps our factories where we can see them, allowing us to monitor both the quality of our products and the working conditions.

The US has many laws in place protecting the health and safety of its workers. Sadly, many other countries where apparel is produced have not yet enacted or enforced laws protecting its manufacturing workers.

Manufacturing in the USA and sourcing USA-made components wherever feasible also keeps Americans employed, thus strengthening our economy.

SUSTAINABILITY

Green is our favorite color at Hanky Panky! From the workplace to product and sourcing we make the very best attempt to be as environmentally responsible as we can.

Some of our efforts include the following:

We donate 100% of our fabric fallout to arts and crafts groups. Our packaging concepts are executed with 100% recycled paper and board and are conceived as keepsake items for an extended life. We purchase only 100% recycled paper for all printers and copy machines Instead of water coolers with plastic bottles, we installed filters to purify
