Overview

Job Title:         Retail Data Specialist

Department:    Finance

Reports to:     Chief Financial Officer

Location:        New York, NY

  Status:            Part-time, hourly - $25-$30/hour

Job Summary

 

The Retail Data Specialist is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and summarizing various forms of data related to client projects, and projections and providing insights into potential improvements to operational and service strategies. This role collaborates closely with the Account Management, Account Operations, and Finance teams to ensure projects are accurately reflected in our projection and reconciliation reporting. This position is required to report to the NY Office at least twice per week.


Responsibilities

Job Duties

Provide analysis and proactive insights to support strategy across retail cross-functional teams. Work with cross-functional partners to collect information that will impact data results. Take direction from internal stakeholders to perform appropriate data analyses to provide accurate and actionable data insights that will contribute to the exceptional service provided by Winston.

  • Utilize current & historical data to forecast the performance of select client projects for future Monitor projections and elevate concerns that will impact the forecast.
  • Gather and organize information and data related to assigned client projects.
  • Analyze the data gathered, document the findings, and summarize it in a format that is easily presented to various audiences.
  • Deliver month-end reconciliation data and reports to Finance, Account Management, and Operations teams.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to compile data in various formats to show correlations, causations, and impacts across multiple projects; additionally identify new and better ways to analyze and report data.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
  • Strong business acumen with an analytical focus
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and reasoning
  • Ability to present complex data points and summaries in a concise manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve complex problems and implements solutions
  • Expert-level Excel skills; Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office, and the ability to quickly master our internal reporting systems
  • Ability to create and maintain cross-functional partnerships
  • Ability to adjust to change regularly and be motivated by working on a variety of projects and categories
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • High-level math and reasoning abilities
  • Retail, wholesale, or branded apparel experience a plus

 Education and Experience

  • 4-year degree
  • Extensive experience and demonstrated advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel functions such as:

o Logical Functions / Formulas

o Text functions

o Pivot Tables

o Data Comparison

o Data Analysis

o Data Visualization

o Data Calculations

o Data Aggregation

o Conditional Formatting

o CONCAT

o Intermediate Mapping
