Production Colorist

A US-based apparel design and manufacturing company with a strong international presence. With robust product development capabilities complemented by a keen understanding of trend, our company produces apparel across its own proprietary labels and under license. 

We are seeking a Production Colorist to join our color department. The Senior Production Colorist is responsible for color & product integrity along with supporting the cross functional teams in evaluating submits to ensure color and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Comment on lab dips, knit downs, strike offs, handlooms, trims, bulk fabrics, bulk trims, submits, etc.
• Depending on the account, will need to enter information and create submits forms in PLM systems.
• Be able to utilize a light booth for proper color evaluation.
• Under Color Manager guidance, review and interpret color submissions & advise corrections or approvals for submits prior to production.
• With Color Manager guidance, provide direction to mills in fabric aesthetic and quality issues during the production process.
• Communicate color comments (both rejections & approvals) to appropriate business partners (suppliers/ factories).
• Assist Color Manager in daily functions including updating and maintaining color manuals and procedures.
• File all submits /records daily.
• Assist Color Manager in routine maintenance of lab equipment (replacing small cutting boards on punch machine, ensuring scale is free of debris, etc.).
• Review & provide direction on care label layouts/test reports for Non-private label orders.
• Review all Pre-Production & Top of Production samples to ensure color & product integrity.
• Provide references of all approved bulk submissions to our overseas Quality Control office for them to conduct inspections.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in textiles or related field
• 3+ years of experience in fabric/garment production experience
• Superior color vision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• High level of organizational skills
• Must be detail oriented, be able to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
• PC Proficient, including Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel mastery a plus)
• Ability to work well in a cross functional environment.
• Sweater, woven & knit fabric construction and finishing knowledge.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to multitask in fast pace ever changing environment.

Plus, but not mandatory:
• Certified Kohl’s Colorist or any other retailer certification.
• Ability to operate spectrophotometer & working knowledge of spectrophotometers and color quality control.
